The picture to the left would be a adaquit cage setup.
Ok lets make a plan for your cage with choices that fit your budget and are good setups.
first we need a cage and tight fitting lid,
there are alot of diffrent kind of cages and diffrent sizes to choose..
well for a adult full grown rainbow a 40-55 gallon glass fish tank with REPTILE screen lid would work great, and for babys a 10-20 gallon will do good.
you will also need a substrate here are a few
good substrates and i will rate them and give u a estimate price.

Looks: 9.0 this substrate is very appialing to the eye.
Is it digestable?: NO if you use this substrate DONOT feed in the cage.
do the snakes like it?: Yes they love is and like burrowing in it
Price: around 5.99-.99 a bag depending on size of bag.
Newspaper:
Aplleling to the eye?: Not realy unless you have alot of foliege and plastic plants and moss
Price: very cheap ( you probbly get it delieved to you every day.
Digestable: Not realy but hey i don think a snake is going to swallow a sheet of newspaper :).
Ok and there is other kinds of substrate those are the ones i find best.
OVOAD CEDAR AT ALL COSTS.
now we are going to need to choose a few hide boxes
buy one from the petstore and take a small little rubber maid cut a untrance hole and put moss in there and that will be the hudid hide and the other one will be a regular hide.
we will also need plastic plants,and some climbing braches the best braches are sandblasted grape vines in my opinion but get whatever pleases you :)
and get whatever plastic plants u find appiling.
Now you need two heat sources
1. a reflector lamp:
get it at home depot!!! they are MUCH more powerful and are way less cheaper pet stores will rib you off with these!!
Under cage heater: You can buy one at your pet store... but they are pretty expensive when u start geting into big cages... so just go to home depot and buy a human heat pad and stick it under the cage.
also buy a reptile bulb that fits your reflector lamp and buy a reptile mister bottle.
Cage setup:
1. Find a place to place the tank in your house.
2. place heat mat UNDER the cage.
3. Fill tank with 1-2 inches thick of substrate.
4. Place water bowl on the side of the tank where the heat mat is.
5. place hide boxes in tank,one on the warm side and one on the cool side.
6. Place plastic plants in tank on the cool side or low to the ground on the warm side.
7. Place braches in the tank.
8. put the snake in the tank.
9. Put screen cover on the tank.
10. Place reflector lamp ontop of the screen screw in the reptile bulb and turn plug it in and turn it on.
11. Mist the cage with a mister (that hasnt been used befor).
There you are all done and your rainbow boa is now happy in his cage.
